You can check three things safely: confirm the keyway code stamped on your key bow, verify the cylinder series number on the lock face, and test your spare key to isolate whether the problem is the key or the cylinder. What you cannot safely do is attempt to decode a 6-pin Sargent cylinder without a pinning kit and depth key set, or cut a restricted keyway blank without factory authorization - the blank simply won’t be available to you.
