Every lock we touch in Fort Worth is opened, installed, or rekeyed by someone who lives here, trains here, and answers to the same standard. Our crew isn’t a rotating call list. They’re the same faces showing up in Ridglea, Fairmount, and the Stockyards, carrying the same documented process Daniel Novak built this shop on back in 2002. No one works solo until they’ve proven they can explain a pin-tumbler failure to a homeowner without talking down to them.

Daniel Novak, Owner & Lead Technician
I’ve been picking locks since before some of my apprentices were born, but I started Novak Lock & Security in 2002 because I got tired of watching Fort Worth homeowners get quoted one price on the phone and handed another on the doorstep. I’m still the one who answers after midnight when the dispatch board lights up with a commercial panic bar failure in the Medical District or a residential lockout near TCU. Factory-authorized on Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and Abloy high-security cylinders, and I personally sign off on every master key system we design. Off the clock, I restore vintage motorcycles in a garage near Lake Worth where the security is deliberately terrible because I enjoy the practice.
Marcus T., Senior Installer
Marcus joined us in 2014 after eight years running commercial hardware for a downtown Dallas outfit that shall remain nameless. He specializes in access control retrofits, the kind where a 1960s Fort Worth warehouse needs HID card readers without anyone rewiring the whole building. He’s installed or serviced maybe 12,000 locks under our roof, and he still notices when a strike plate is misaligned by an eighth of an inch. Marcus holds a Texas Department of Public Safety locksmith registration and keeps a handwritten log of every master key bitting he’s ever cut, which he claims is for “pattern recognition” but we suspect is just how his brain works. He coaches youth basketball in Stop Six and has never once used the phrase “synergy” in a sentence.
Elena R., Service Coordinator
Elena is the voice you actually reach when you call (817) 765-4998 at 2 a.m. during a lockout in Wedgwood. She’s been with Novak Lock & Security since 2019, and before that she dispatch for a Fort Worth HVAC company, so she knows how to calm someone down while a technician is still ten minutes out. She writes every quote into our system before the truck rolls, which means Haven Standard Clause 1, the price on the phone is the price on the invoice, starts with her. Elena cross-trains every new hire on our phone protocol: answer by the second ring, confirm the address twice, quote the full price including parts and labor, then read it back. She grows tomatoes in her Benbrook backyard that she brings in for the crew every August, and she will remember your dog’s name if you mention it during the call.
James K., Apprentice Technician
James came to us in 2023 through a vocational program at Tarrant County College after leaving a warehouse job in White Settlement where he realized he preferred fixing things to moving them. He’s working through his registered locksmith certification under Marcus’s direct supervision, and he’s not permitted to run solo calls yet, which means he’s seen more failed mortise locks in eighteen months than most technicians see in five years. James has a particular patience for elderly customers in the Morningside and Berkeley neighborhoods who want to understand exactly why their 1990s Kwikset won’t turn anymore. He lives in River Oaks with a rescue pit bull named Deputy who has no security function whatsoever but accompanies him on weekend supply runs.
One Standard, Every Job
The Haven Standard isn’t a poster on the wall at our Fort Worth shop. It’s the checklist our technicians run on every single visit, whether it’s a $45 rekey in Polytechnic Heights or a full access control design for a medical office near Harris Methodist. Clause 1 governs our pricing. Clause 3 requires the photo record you receive before we leave. Clause 7 mandates the background check and uniform that every technician, including me, wears without exception. We didn’t adopt this framework because Haven asked us to. We helped build it, starting with the rules I wrote down in 2002 when I was the only employee and the only way to prove I’d been there was a receipt and a handshake. The ten brands under this standard share documentation protocols and training resources, but Novak Lock & Security Fort Worth is independently owned and operated. The crew above reports to me, and I report to the customer whose lock I just fixed. That’s the chain of accountability, and it’s never been longer than that.
